Description |
This venerable old colonial was built around 1830 by Elias Gregory as a private residence for his family, and remained so for many generations. In 1983, it was expanded to house a common room and 12 guest rooms, and designed to wrap around an existing in-ground pool. All rooms have a private bath, phone, radio, desk, and air conditioning. Averill Park is a small village located on what is known as the Rensselaer Plateau, part of the Appalachian System. It is surrounded by the Adirondack, Catskill, Greenberkshire, and Taconic Mountain Ranges, all of which offer an abundance of summer and winter activities. Summer theater, cultural events, and historic sites abound in this area. A restaurant is on the premises, and four candlelit dining rooms serve dinner every night except Monday. Sailing, windsurfing, and swimming are available on nearby Crystal Lake. Smoking is allowed in specified areas only. Why the Gregory House? ...lots of reasons, but mainly because we are here - and we are good. Lest you think this an immodest claim, be assured it comes from the hearts of our happy guests as well as from Mobil Guide and AAA both of whom have awarded us three stars, translated - 'excellent.'
